OSAGE RESERVATION, OKLA. (April 19, 2022) – Osage Nation announces a ribbon-cutting for the Pawhuska Senior Housing Expansion on Tuesday, April 26 at 10 a.m. located at 350 Senior Circle. The expansion includes five duplexes, for a total of ten additional housing units.

Osage tribal member Julia Wilson is currently on the waiting list and is expected to be offered one of the new units once available. For Wilson, this opportunity is both meaningful and comforting.

“My father was an original allottee,” said Wilson. “Since I applied for the housing I’ve been thinking that he would be so proud that the tribe is doing what they can for elders to have a comfortable place to live,” said Wilson. “Right now, I have a lot of yard to keep up. I am glad I won’t have to worry about that or when a light bulb goes out, I have someone there to help me replace it. At my age, it means a lot to have a house where I can depend on someone to help me when things like that happen.”

“Providing affordable housing to our elders is a top priority at Osage Nation,” said Chief Standing Bear. “We are thankful to all Osage Nation staff, congress members and builders who contributed to this important expansion project within a swift timeline.”

Monies from the Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) funds and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) supplements were used to fund the expansion. Osage Nation Senior Housing provides maintenance-free and affordable rental housing to Native American elders residing on the Osage Nation Reservation. Rental rates are based on the annual household income of residents. Osage preference applies to this service. To find out more information, please visit osagenation-nsn.gov/services/housing.
