Osage Nation Publishes the NEXT FIVE YEARS (2026-2030) Strategic Plan

Strategic Update 2026-2030

OSAGE NATION RESERVATION, OKLA. (Jan. 7, 2026) – The Osage Nation has published its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan Update, the result of a yearlong process that gathered input from Osages throughout the United States. The plan reaffirms the Osage Nation’s long-term vision and sets priorities that will guide governance over the next five years. It is rooted in meaningful community engagement and represents the shared voice and will of the Osage people.

The Strategic Plan Update builds upon the Osage Nation’s 25-Year Vision adopted in 2007 and was developed through a comprehensive outreach process that included 18 in-person and virtual listening sessions and 1,275 completed surveys from Osages across the United States. Input from Osage Nation employees also played a key role.

“This Strategic Plan is a reflection of what our people told us matters most,” said Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear. “Osages shared their priorities, concerns, and hopes for the future, and this plan honors that guidance. It is a roadmap shaped by the voices of our people.”

The plan identifies ten priority areas for 2026–2030, ranked by importance based on constituent feedback:

  1. Health
  2. Cultural Preservation
  3. Sovereignty
  4. Education
  5. Economic Development
  6. Minerals and Natural Resources
  7. Accessibility to Services and Programs
  8. Governance and Justice
  9. Communication
  10. Connection

Since the development of the original strategic vision, the Osage Nation has achieved significant milestones, including expanded health services, new senior housing, growth in education and language immersion programs, significant land reacquisition, investments in broadband and infrastructure, and continued cultural revitalization efforts. Osage Nation membership has grown from fewer than 10,000 citizens in 2007 to more than 26,000 in 2025.

“The progress we have made over the past several years shows what is possible when we plan with intention and listen to our people,” Standing Bear added. “This Strategic Plan will guide our decisions, our investments, and our work as we continue strengthening the Osage Nation for generations to come.”

The 2026–2030 Strategic Plan will guide departmental goals, program development, and budget planning to ensure Nation resources are aligned with Osage priorities and long-term sustainability.
