Senior Orientation

The Osage Nation Education Department (ONED) hosted a Senior Orientation Event for the incoming Class of 2024 on July 11-12, 2023, at the ONED in Hominy, Oklahoma. Native American youth, who attended the event, received information regarding college, financial aid, and job readiness skills. They also enjoyed fun workshops and outdoor activities.

College admission representatives from Tulsa Community College, Rogers State University, and Oklahoma State University presented information, to the seniors, about their schools. They discussed academic programs, student life on campus, and financial aid opportunities at each institution. These colleges are located in close proximity to the Osage Nation.

The students not only learned more about college life, they also engaged in creative activities and enjoyed recreational time. The youth created a personal statement and collage in order to express their interests, hobbies, and goals. Other activities included Indian dice and an outdoor team-building event that featured an inflatable water slide.

Several youth attended the Senior Orientation Event, hosted by the ONED, and gained valuable knowledge about planning for their future beyond high school. They also won door prizes, tie-dyed shirts, and enjoyed lunch, during the two-day event. This event should help these students prepare for their senior year of high school.
