OSAGE NATION RESERVATION, OKLA. (July 6, 2023) – The Osage Nation Counseling Center (ONCC) continues its Drive-Thru Narcan Training Series with an event on Thursday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Skiatook Municipal Office, 705 N Lenapah Ave., Oklahomans are becoming increasingly more aware of the epidemic America is currently facing regarding fentanyl and the fatalities it is causing. In 2022 fentanyl and other opioid-related overdoses increased 22% from the previous year, with the number only continuing to rise into 2023. To help combat this, it is imperative that we can educate our communities and offer all forms available to us of preventative and intervention-based care.

ONCC is working to educate, prepare and equip community members through multiple grants. These grants specifically aim to hold a series of community Narcan (naloxone) drive-thru training events. Following in the footsteps of the Choctaw Nations COIPP grant, the Osage Nation Counseling Center aims to spread awareness around the life-saving benefits of Narcan while providing it free of charge to the community, along with the training needed to properly and safely administer it. Other items, such as medication lock bags to keep medications safe, t-shirts, and other resources, will also be available.

All community members are invited to attend. The event is free and open to the public while supplies last.  For questions or additional information, please get in touch with Alexis Martin at alexis.martin@osagenation-nsn.gov
