The Office of Self-Governance and Strategic Planning serves in many capacities:
- Oversight, development and management of various Osage Nation Strategic Plans and presentation of Strategic Plans to Congress, Departments and Osage constituents.
- Oversight and management of the Osage Nation Self-Governance BIA and IHS programs including the reconsolidation of budgets to the annual funding agreements, developing policies and procedures related to the Self-Governance program, working with departments on implementation of Self Governance programs and representing the Osage Nation at Self-Governance Advisory Committee meetings and other state and federal agency meetings, and keeping abreast of legislation that could affect the Self-Governance program.
- Oversight, administration and management of special projects such as grants for feasibility studies related to specific programs or entities, foundation and corporation grant projects that don’t have a specific department, and other special projects assigned by the Chief.
The Strategic Planning office is engaged in updating the last five years of the 25 year plan with expanded multi-generational outreach for new and expanded input. The Strategic Planning office is also in charge of the U.S. 2020 Census outreach. The U.S. Census plays an important role in grant applications and programs that are related to demographical characteristics.
