The π“·π“˜π“»π“˜π“»π“Ÿ Language Department announces open registration for 2023-2024 community language classes. Virtual and in-person classes begin on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Various proficiency levels include Children, Parents, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Verbs, and Orthography. All classes are free and open to community members. First-time students are encouraged to begin with the Orthography class to learn the sounds of the language and the writing system.

β€œOur team enjoys working together with the community to keep the language alive,” says Braxton Redeagle, Director of the Language Department. β€œThe perpetuation of our language relies on a collective effort, and is vital to our sovereignty as a nation. We welcome all students, wherever they may be in their language journey. As long as you do your bestβ€”π“·π“˜π“―π“€π“˜ β€”the only wrong way to speak your language is to not speak it at all.”

Over the past year, the language department has grown to 11 teachers offering 19 classes. New community teachers this year include Dora Williams, who will teach classes for parents and children, and Noah Shadlow, who will teach the beginner class held in Hominy.

Students with good attendance will receive a free t-shirt. For questions, please contact langinfo@osagenation-nsn.gov.
