Osage Nation Receives Recognition

The Osage Nation has been recognized as a Certified Healthy Oklahoma Business.

The Certified Healthy Businessprogram began in 2003 with sponsorship from various organizations whose mission was to improve the quality of life for Oklahomans in where they “live, work and learn.” The Osage Nation was recognized for its “positive impact on the health of its employees.” There are three levels of certification: basic, merit, and excellence. The Osage Nation earned the Excellence certification.

How is a business critiqued for such a certification? The size of the business is a factor, but also considered are “employee health screenings, workplace health education, opportunities for physical exercise activities, management support for healthy workplace environments, and sharing wellness activities within their respective communities.”

On February 4, 2015, the Osage Nation Communities of Excellence and Skiatook Head Start will accept the certification on behalf of the Nation at a luncheon at the Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
