Spend a great family day in the Osage, see what Pawhuska has to offer October 4, 2014 , Pawhuska, OK - The 2014 National Indian Taco Championship, October 4, 2014, 10 AM – 4 PM in Downtown Pawhuska, OK on HWY 60 (45 miles going east from Ponca City and 28 miles west from Bartlesville. At the heart of the Osage Nation Heritage Train Byway)

This is the 10 Year Anniversary - If you love Indian fry bread and Indian Tacos then you will love this fun Native food festival! And, the best part, besides eating tacos, watching great Indian dancing and a kid’s section, YOU CAN BE A JUDGE!

Visitors can pay $5 for the chance to help judge the Indian tacos. We have two ways to participate as a judge – sign up and for $5 you can be a Preliminary Judge or sign up to be a People’s Choice Award Judge. Limited spaces available so sign up early for this judging event. Winners from these heats will participate in the final round to win $1,500 and claim title as winner to the 2014 National Indian Taco Championship.

Preliminary Judges participate in contestant heats and the People’s Choice Award Judges purchase samples from as many contestants as they wish– then vote for your favorite. Contestants will be eligible to win $1,000 in this category.

Judging will begin at 11 a.m. and winners will be announced between 3 and 4 p.m. The event will also include concessions, Indian Dance Contests, Drum Contest and entertainment for the whole family. After the winners are announced head out to the Osage County Fairgrounds for Barrel Racing.

Indian Dancing – Men’s straight and fancy and Women’s Cloth and Buckskin and a Children’s Exhibition will begin at 11:00am. Registration the day of the event.

Native Drum Contest – WINNER TAKE ALL $1500. Registration is day of event.

The festival will begin at 10:00a.m. in downtown Pawhuska and while you are there you can visit local boutiques, the world’s oldest tribal museum and take a drive up to the Tallgrass Prairie.
