Palace Grocery soon to be Venture Foods

Palace of the Osage Grocery in Fairfax not only is getting a new lifeline, but a new name as well. When the new business opens it will be Fairfax Venture Foods.

Lane Moore is the president of ALLS Groceries Inc., a family-operated business, and has personally been in the grocery business all his life.

The Palace which has been closed for the past three years still had food on the shelves. Lane said January 7th that cleaning up is the first priority. For example, carbonated beverages still sitting on the shelves and stacked on pallets when the doors closed for the last time exploded and the liquid had seeped between the tiles on the floor.

A daunting task faces the future Venture Foods. In addition to a lot of cleaning, new equipment has to be ordered. The old shelving will be replaced with new taller units allowing for the store to provide more food and supplies. There will also be new meat and dairy cases along with a new scanner system.

Lane said since beginning his work at Venture Foods, Fairfax residents periodically stop by, check out the progress, and ask questions. Lane tentatively is aiming to be opened March 1st. He will host a job fair but at this time does not know when this will take place.

Moore has a Facebook page up: Fairfax Venture Foods. He plans to keep everyone updated on the progress.
