Creative Writing Workshop at the ONM

Pawhuska, Okla. (1/05/2018) – The Osage Nation Museum (ONM) and Osage Artist Ruby Hansen Murray will be conducting a Creative Writing Workshop on February 1st, 2018 from 5:00-7:00pm. This workshop is free and open to the public.

Using guided writing prompts, workshop participants will develop stories or poems inspired by the paintings and artifacts in the retrospective exhibit Traditional Values/Contemporary Vision: Works by Gina Gray currently on view at the ONM.


Osage artist Ruby Hansen Murray is a writer and photographer, whose work appears in World Literature Today, The Rumpus, Yellow Medicine Review, Indian Country Today and As/Us. She received an MFA from The Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. She’s the winner of the 2017 Montana Creative Nonfiction Prize, awarded fellowships at Ragdale, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Fishtrap. She offers creative writing workshops in settings as varied as the Port Townsend Writers Conference, the Northern California Osage, Mt. Edgecumbe High School in Sitka, AK and Suquamish Elementary in WA. A citizen of the Osage Nation from the Hominy District, she lives along the Columbia River.

Open to all ages, no previous writing background necessary.
